Bioconcentration Studies
Brixham Environmental Laboratory has a wealth of experience in the Bioconcentration flow-through fish test (OECD 305), using various species including the Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas). Concentrations of a test substance are determined during an exposure (uptake) phase and a post-exposure (depuration) phase to characterise the bioconcentration potential.
As well as vast experience with the traditional aqueous exposure route, Brixham Environmental Laboratory has experience of conducting bioconcentration studies using a dietary exposure route (biomagnifiacation), recommended for poorly water soluble test substances.
The Bioaccumulation in Sediment-dwelling Benthic Oligochaetes test, (OECD 315), will be available on the same uptake and depuration processes described for the fish test.
