Brixham Environmental Laboratory is one of the leading laboratories able to offer research and routine testing of chemicals for potential endocrine disrupting effects in a number of fish species.  The Laboratory has a prominent role in the development and validation of fish protocols for assessing potential endocrine disrupting activity of chemicals.  Validated protocols include 21-day fish screening assays for oestrogenic, androgenic and aromatase activity (OECD 229 and 230).  Higher tier methods, such as fish full life-cycle tests, fish sex development test, pair breeding test or bespoke study protocols, can also be designed to address specific customer requirements related to endocrine disrupting chemicals.
