Introduction

Japan’s Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL) was first enacted in 1973 and was last amended in 2003.  With some exceptions, all “new” substances (as defined in Article 3 of the CSCL) that are to be manufactured or imported into Japan, require notification under the act.  As part of that notification, an assessment of environmental impact must be completed.

Brixham Environmental Laboratory and their partners can provide all of the environmental studies required for notification under the CSCL regulation.  The laboratory has many years experience of completing both fate and effects studies for the Japanese market.
